For almost everyone, a smartphone has become something they grab along with their wallet and car keys. It goes everywhere you do. And now the 2021 Sentra smartphone integration is standard, offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration as a standard on all their models. Since your smartphone is already integrated so deeply into your daily life, it only makes sense to have it integrated with the vehicle you drive.

Prior to 2021, Sentra models with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration were only available in their top trim models rather than being standard. So for car buyers, that’s a huge incentive to look towards the Sentra as smartphone integration can be a costly add-on that most people forego. The 2021 Sentra is offered in three distinct trim levels, the S, SV, and the SR. Depending on your style and taste, one of these trim levels is sure to meet your expectations.

The 2021 Nissan Sentra comes equipped with a peppy 2.0 liter, 4 cylinder engine. The engine uses something Nissan calls Direct Injection Gasoline or DIG to give it that sporty feel. The engine puts out 149hp and is mated to the continuously variable transmission that you have experienced in other Nissan models. The engine not only offers good performance in town and on the highway, but you’ll see good totals at the gas pump too with an EPA fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city, 37 on the highway, and 32 mpg combined.

The Nissan Sentra S comes with the following standard equipment

  • Cloth Seating
  • 16-inch Alloy Wheels
  • Touchscreen Entertainment Center
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System

And this is just some of what is included as standard. Items like power windows, cruise control, collision warnings, traction control, air conditioning, vanity mirrors, and a host of other features make this baseline model seem very well appointed.

The next step up in the Nissan Sentra line is the Sentra SV. This trim level offers some features that add a little flair to the Sentra line.

Nissan Sentra SV Standard Equipment

  • 6 Way power adjusting seats
  • 17″ Aluminum-alloy wheels
  • Quilted leather seating
  • Powered Moonroof
  • Heated Seats
  • Leather-wrapped gear shift

The final option in trim levels is the top-of-the-line Sentra SR. This adds some additional options to the Sentra SV package.

  • NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM®
  • Prima-Tex™ seating
  • Intelligent Around View Monitor
  • Bose 8 speaker sound system

All of the trim levels come nicely appointed and there are tons of options within each one. The Sentra allows for a nice level of customization options to make the car feel like it’s one of a kind. Not only does the Sentra offer optional interior appointments, but you can also choose exterior options like black coated wheels, splash guards, rear deck spoiler, and of course a litany of color options.

But the Sentra isn’t just another sporty and good-looking sedan, Nissan packed it with a variety of safety features to make sure you get to your destination unharmed. Along with having the Sentra Smartphone Integration for security, Nissan has the total package called Standard Safety Shield 360 that comes on all trim levels of the Sentra. One of the features in this package is Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. This feature is always on the lookout for a pedestrian in the crosswalk that you might have missed and will brake if one is detected. This same system will also keep track of the car ahead of you and let you know if you need to slow down to keep the appropriate driving distance.

And not only will the Sentra lookout for what’s ahead, but also what’s behind. The Rear Automatic Braking system monitors for anything behind you and will brake to avoid hitting it if you don’t. Also, while backing up the Sentra utilizes Rear Cross Traffic Alert that will warn you if a car is coming up on either side before you back out completely. To complete your circle of protection, the Sentra has blind-spot monitoring, a lane departure warning system, and a high beam assist that will turn off the high beams when a vehicle is approaching.

As far as pricing goes, the 2021 Nissan Sentra is competitive in its class. The base model starts at $19,460, the Sentra SV is priced at $20,520 and the Sentra SR begins at $21,800. All of the trim levels offer a lot of bang for the buck, from the standard equipment and safety features all the way to the add ons to make it your own. In a crowded sedan market, the 2021 Nissan Sentra still finds a way to shine.
