The 2019 Nissan Altima bigger, better and amazingly lighter. Look out Accord and Camry because the brand new Altima is making a bold statement. After selling over 5.5 million since its launch – sitting in third place is no longer an option. The Altima is one of Nissan’s best selling vehicles, and now its forward-thinking technology and redesign will ambitiously set itself apart from the rest. Within the redesign, Nissan releases not one, but two new features to its engine.

What comes standard?

The Nissan Altima base model is powered by a heavily revised, naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline-four with 80% new parts; peeking at 188 HP and 180 lbs of torque. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also standard, along with SiriusXM satellite radio, Siri Eyes Free, and Google Assistant voice recognition, and keyless ignition. The SR, SL, and Platinum get leather, while the S and SV have a cloth interior. And to think, these are just the standard features.

What’s new?

Nissan said good-bye to the V6 engine and welcomed the world’s first variable compression (VC Turbo) two-liter, turbocharged inline-four engine. It makes 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Now there is an engine that can deliver the high-performance of a gasoline engine as well as the torque and efficiency of a diesel. Also, the Nissan Altima has the world’s first intelligent all-wheel drive available, a feature offered by the Ford Fusion and Subaru Legacy. This technology gives you an extra set of eyes that will monitor the road conditions and respond to changes in an instant. Imagine having the drivability of an SUV in a sedan. No matter the weather – blizzard storm or thundering rain – the all-new wheel intelligent technology will apply the appropriate settings straight to the wheels. This is optional on the top three trims, so upgrading is worth it.

New Look, New Personality

Nissan wanted heads to turn when they architect the new 2019 Altima. This eye-catching vehicle is decked out with the second generation V-motion grill for a sophisticated – yet sporty composition. Nissan dropped the front half of the hood 2 inches for an aggressive, in-your-face – look. And, it doesn’t stop at the front. The new Altima incorporated the stylish Nissan floating roof design. Other changes to the chassis include a redesigned suspension with monotube rear dampers, a new electrically assisted power-steering unit that reduces the efforts at low speeds but increases them at higher speeds, and 19-inch wheels, available for the first time as an option on SR and Platinum models.

Intuitive Technology

This insightful technology begins at the push of the remote. With the standard Remote Engine Start System, the available Intelligent Climate Control System will initiate the temperature of the cabin, just the way you like it. The Nissan 2019 Altima features an 8-inch infotainment display on the dashboard and a 7-inch screen on the instrument panel.

But wait, There is More

Nissan is bringing to ProPilot feature to Nissan. It will be standard on SV, SL, and Platinum trims. Along with the advanced cruise control, it has rear automated emergency braking, which can apply the brakes if it detects an object will cause a possible collision. It, too, is standard on SV, SL, and Platinum models, as are the lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Forward-collision warning, front automated emergency braking, and a driver-alertness monitor are standard on all models, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on all but the base S.
