The 2019 Maxima continues to sweep the J.D. Power awards collection, this time taking the top place in the 2019 APEAL study.

A+ APEAL

If you’re looking for an award-winning sedan, the 2019 Maxima has crushed the competition this year. The J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study was recently released, with big wins for Nissan. The 2019 Maxima sat proudly upon the throne of first place among the Large Car Segment. This marks the second year in a row that the Maxima has won the honor.
As if that victory was not enough, it was actually the second award handed out to the 2019 Maxima by J.D. Power. Earlier this year, the sedan sailed to first place in the segment for the J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study. Taking the top spot in both awards in the same year is extremely rare, with only seven other vehicles ever accomplishing the feat.

Award-Winning Sedans

The 2019 Maxima wasn’t alone in winning awards from the study. The 2019 Altima took the top spot in the Midsize Car category in a three-way tie. With 2020 bringing a refreshed Maxima alongside all-new versions of the Altima and Versa, Nissan feels their sedan lineup is set to conquer all competitors.

Other Strong Showings

While they didn’t take home trophies, three other Nissan vehicles surpassed the non-premium APEAL average this year. The 2019 Armada, 2019 Murano and 2019 Titan all performed admirably in their respective segments. Nissan noted that this was particularly great news for the Titan, which had an excellent performance in the year’s earlier Initial Quality Study. Much like the 2019 Murano, the 2019 Titan took the top spot in the Large Light Duty Pickup segment, with a seventh-place placement among all vehicles.

Appealing to the APEAL

The J.D. Power 2019 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study, held every year for the past 24 years, is one of the nation’s most prestigious automotive awards. Customers who purchased or leased a new vehicle are survey across the country to get their two-cents about their cars, trucks and SUVs. 77 different factors are considered and combined to create a final score.

With J.D. Power showering the 2019 Maxima in awards, it is hard to argue against owning this sedan. Come check out our selection today at Metro Nissan Redlands!
